Meet Blackpool launches new communications campaign
Meet Blackpool, Blackpool’s conference and exhibition arm which launched in July 2022 by Blackpool Entertainment Company Limited (BECL), is embarking on an ambitious new £450,000 marketing campaign to relaunch the town’s cutting-edge offer for business events.
The campaign ‘Business in Blackpool, always a pleasure’ has been designed to showcase Blackpool’s unique blend of contemporary, high-quality venues, technology and new infrastructure alongside its reputation for quintessentially British entertainment.
Specialist business events PR and communications consultancy, Davies Tanner, has been retained to spearhead the communications activity, which launches in January 2023. A new website will showcase updated brand visuals and the campaign will be supported by the relaunch of social media channels and targeted digital campaigns.
With Blackpool widely regarded as the home of ballroom dancing, thanks to its world-renowned International Festivals promoted annually at the Winter Gardens Blackpool’s magnificent Empress Ballroom, the team is also launching Strictly inspired FAM trips, working with key resort partners to showcase the destination’s offer and to add some pizzazz to the delegate experience.
Michael Williams, Managing Director, Blackpool Entertainment Company Limited, commented: “Blackpool has long been synonymous with entertainment and this new campaign has been designed to capitalise on that heritage as a destination for exciting experiences, while promoting our new and significantly enhanced offer for business events.
“Our new high-tech venue, Winter Gardens Blackpool Conference & Exhibition Centre, and the improved facilities here in Blackpool have enabled us to significantly elevate our offer as a destination for business events. We have already secured a raft of high-profile events which will take place in Blackpool over the next 24 months, including the National Association of retired Police Officers and the Northern Premier Football League Awards, and we’re excited to continue to build on that success with our Business in Blackpool, always a pleasure campaign.”
Over the past five years more than £500 million has been invested in improving the resort’s connectivity and infrastructure. The Winter Gardens Blackpool Conference & Exhibition Centre is the largest venue of its kind in the north of England, providing 2,400sqm of event space to accommodate 2,000 visitors over two floors. When integrated with the wider Winter Gardens complex the space has an overall delegate capacity of 7,000.
With the addition of the new Conference & Exhibition Centre, the full Winter Gardens Blackpool complex provides 12 distinct venues, all under one roof, offering a total of 4.9 acres of connected conference, meeting, event and exhibition space. Since 2018 three brand new purpose-built hotels have been built, offering over 400 bedrooms of 4-star standard and above, with more in the pipeline.
The seafront tramway has also seen significant investment with new tracks and European commuter-style trams that run alongside the resort’s world-famous heritage trams.
The next phase will see the tramway extended to Blackpool’s centrally located rail station, ensuring a seamless transition from arrival to hotel check-in, to event venue. The national rail network has also gone through a significant investment programme, meaning the town can be accessed via trains from most major towns and cities in the UK.
