Jockey Club Venues partnered with Kent headwear designer Chris Garner for Square Meal Venues + Events Live on Wednesday 21st and Thursday 22nd September 2016 at Old Billingsgate, London.
The collaboration between The Jockey Club Venues and Maidstone-based Chris allowed visitors to gain expert knowledge about exciting venues around the UK and have the opportunity to browse Chris’s wonderfully unique millinery creations. He was on hand throughout the event to chat through his designs.
Chris said he was “thrilled to be approached by such an ambassador of millinery and loved what the visitors said about his unique designs”.
Chris’s love for expertly crafted hats started six years ago while he was working at Harrods whilst making headwear to sell at local Christmas markets in his own time. Since then, he’s been a contestant in ‘Grazia’s Hat Factor’, had his creations exhibited at the Maidstone Museum’s Glass Room and even received praise from renowned celebrity hat designer Philip Treacy, OBE.
Chris taught himself the basics of millinery by experimenting with different materials and eventually decided to undertake a millinery course at the London College of Fashion to fine tune his skills. Chris designs and creates all of his bespoke commissions by hand in his Maidstone workshop, making each and every one uniquely different and the perfect show-stopper at any event.
Jockey Club Venues said they were “happy to be support such a talented, flourishing start-up business.”
This local lad with a genuine flair of creativity is the only designer to have two of his creations featured in this year’s London Hat Week that took place between 6th – 12th October.
