As some of you may know davies tanner turns 20 this year and to mark the occasion we have pledged to raise £20,000 for charity as a way of saying thank you to our local area, friends and our industry.
As well as having to decide what sort of fun and challenging activities we could do to raise £20,000, the biggest decision was which charities we’re going to support.
We always knew it was going to be a tough decision to make, with so many amazing and worthwhile charities close to our hearts. I’m pleased to say we have chosen to support local charity Heart of Kent Hospice and the UK Meetings and Event industry charity Meeting Needs which supports a number of causes which may not receive sufficient donations or public funding, both in the UK and overseas.
So, how are we going to fundraise? In true davies tanner style we debated this over a hearty pizza lunch. It’s safe to say we are an inventive bunch here at DT and we certainly weren’t stuck for ideas! A bake sale? A 24 hour danceathon? A marathon (who even made that suggestion?!)
The one thing we knew is that we wanted to do something both fun and challenging. We settled on ‘It’s a Knockout’ for Heart of Kent Hospice for our first fundraising event. I knew getting a team of 10 together wasn’t going to be a hard task. Within 24 hours Team DT (the dream team) was complete.
On Friday 19th May David, Tori, Nicole, Fleur, Becca, Bella, Julia, Sue, Richard and I will be battling it out against local companies at the event in Mote Park, Maidstone. We’re a competitive bunch so we’re looking forward to getting stuck in.
Those who are not taking part have not been forgotten; they will be responsible for posting the, no doubt embarrassing, photos, so be sure to check out our Instagram and Twitter for those (@dtbanter #dt20).
In the coming weeks we will be announcing the rest of our fundraising events throughout the year so keep your eyes peeled. One thing is for certain…there will be no marathon running (at least not by me!).
Team DT assemble.
