De Vere Wokefield Estate, near Reading – part of the De Vere portfolio of country estate hotels and modern event spaces – has unveiled the results of its £20 million refurbishment, which includes a complete restoration of its historic Mansion House and a refresh of all meeting spaces, to bring them in line with the company’s Smart Space meetings concept. The investment is part of the wider multi-million pound investment in De Vere’s portfolio.
The property offers a flexible collection of high quality meeting and event spaces, catering for everything from intimate meetings of 10 delegates to large events of up to 500 guests. The Mansion House, located at the heart of the estate, boasts a number of newly refurbished meeting and event spaces, packed with original features, including; the Lincoln Suite – an old chapel; The Old Lounge, with its magnificent original fireplace; Mortimer, with stunning views of the hotel’s gardens and the elegant Maple Suite, the Mansion House’s largest event space, which features an extensive balcony overlooking the grounds and lake, providing a scenic break-out area.
The estate is also home to Wokefield Place, a dedicated on-site conference centre that boasts 51 meetings spaces, including the refurbished Wokefield Suite, which has a capacity of up to 400 delegates, and the recently launched The Canary Suite, that has a capacity of up to 150 delegates. Wokefield Place also features a number of flexible breakout areas including The Avenue, Burr & Co. and The Courtyard. Both the Mansion House and Wokefield Place are equipped with the latest technology including free, superfast Wi-Fi up to 100m from the hotel and with a maximum bandwidth of 1GB, to meet every conference need.
All meeting spaces are supported by De Vere’s innovative meetings concept, Smart Space, which ensures that delegates receive a highly responsive, personalised meetings and events service. It incorporates nine service features covering everything from dedicated technical support, live availability booking service to inspirational meeting rooms – be that a bright and contemporary training space or an executive boardroom with nods to the property’s heritage and a personal conference host.
Delegates are also offered new nutritionally-balanced menus that have been carefully created by De Vere’s Group Nutritionist, Wendy Martinson OBE. These menus are served in The View restaurant, located in Wokefield Place, and the new Burr & Co. coffee shop that also serves a range of ethically sourced coffees and artisan treats.
Peter Sangster, Venue Director at De Vere Wokefield Estate, commented: “We’re delighted with the results of the refurbishment; the attention to detail and beautiful marriage of modern functionality with classic style is really quite breath-taking. We firmly believe that we have created a property that offers the utmost flexibility for delegates.
He continued: “The transformation has breathed new life into the property. Whether it’s a large scale corporate event; a small board meeting; a show-stopping wedding or an evening celebration, the hotel and our expert team will deliver a seamless experience that is tailored to each guest’s unique requirements.”
